- How to configure “Traffic Control” on Tenda router
Note: This FAQ uses the 3G611R as an example, however the process is the same for all Tenda routers.
Why we need traffic control?
In a normal home network, the bandwidth is shared by all computers. This means any computer using high-bandwidth applications, for example torrent programs or other P2P software will affect the other computers. This may also include negative effect on the performance of the entire network. How can we avoid this?
The answer is “Traffic Control”. Using traffic control, we can assign a specific minimum or maximum bandwidth for each computer, which means they have less impact on each other.
The steps are followings:
- Open your web browser and type the IP Address of router (the default is 192.168.0.1 ) into the address bar and press “ENTER”.
- Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password are both admin. Click “OK”.
- Click “Traffic Control”à”Traffic Control”, tick Traffic Control Enable. After settings, please click Apply.
For example, you want to limit the download speed of the computer whose IP Address is 192.168.1.1, if you want to change the settings, you can click edit.
In this case, PC with IP address 192.168.0.1 will have speed rate of 50-100 kbps.
